RETURN OF THE SATYR

2021

I was asked by the fine people at Picturehouse Piccadilly to intro a revival of Matthew Barney’s mythic beast THE CREMASTER CYCLE so I decided to transform myself into the hot tap-dancing mischief-making satyr from CREMASTER 4 for the occasion. And then cavort around central London til it got dark. Some people freaked out or stopped and stared; other people were thrilled. It was so fun to bring this fantastical creature into the real world. I miss him a lot.

MY GREMLIN DID SOME WICKED THINGS

Greengrassi Gallery, 2019.

Sculptural installation for Greengrassi’s spring show, Playful Aggressions: a dislocated piece of a child’s bedroom circa the 1990s, complete with VHS tapes, plush rug and a copy of Where the Wild Things Are becomes a scene for eager sleuths to investigate. Read the psychiatric notes, listen to the child’s confession on cassette. The cute Gremlin reigns over it all from his throne. Don’t ingest after midnight.
